City advises of water supply disruption in Hout Bay and Llandudno

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is attending to a pipe burst on the 300mm diameter water main in the vicinity of Riverside Terraces in Hout Bay. This is affecting the water supply to the Suikerbossie Reservoir, Park Avenue, Mount Rhodes, Ruyterplaats and Llandudno areas. This water supply main had to be shut off earlier today, Tuesday, 19 April 2022 to allow the maintenance crew to safely attend to the emergency repairs until it has been completed.
The Suikerbossie reservoir currently has at least two hours water supply left and thereafter the affected areas will be supplied via a standpipe and water tankers.
Residents are kindly requested to keep their taps closed during this period to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.
‘The maintenance crew will work throughout the night if need be to restore the water supply,’ said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water Sanitation.
Water tankers will provide water for domestic use during this period as follows:
- A tanker will roam between Park Avenue and Ruyterplaats.
- A second tanker will roam the Llandudno area.
- Residents are advised that Covid-19 protocols will be applicable when collecting water from the tanker(s).
- Residents are advised to bring their own clean containers.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience of residents.
